2011 SCHOOL BUDGET PREPARATION TOOL KIT

ALL schools must complete their school budget and submit all required forms to the Finance Department no later than 4:30 pm on Feb. 11, 2010.

TRADITIONAL & INSTRUMENTALITY CHARTER SCHOOLS
Required budget forms, budget instructions, allocation information and related school budget material is organized into four sections on the right side of this page and described below. Traditional schools will continue to link budgets to the school improvement plan aligned with the district's strategic plan - Working Together, Achieving More. Action Plan to Improve Milwaukee Public Schools 2007-1012. a training media site and all materials required to complete school performance budgets will be available on this site by the end of the day on March 1, 2010. Drop in sessions will be held between March 3 - March 15, 2010 and all FY11 performance measure reports will be due March 17, 2010. Participation in performance budgeting is optional for charter and partnership schools, which are held accountable for results via their contracts.

BUDGET PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS
Documents in this portlet contain instructions and key steps schools must follow to complete and submit budget materials. Read the document "Guide to 2011 School Budget Preparation Materials" first for descriptions of all forms and budget documents. Includes the IFAS budget preparation drop-in schedule for school leaders.

BUDGET PREPARATION - REQUIRED FORMS
All completed forms, with the exception of the School Governance Signature Page are due in the budget office on same date as school budgets. The "School Governance Signature Page" is due in the Budget Office by March 1, 2010 after the district budget review process has been completed. See portlet for further detail.

BUDGET PREPARATION - ALLOCATIONS/DATA
Contains all school allocations including allocations for the school operations budget and all in-school grant-funded budgets.  Includes staffing detail of site allocations for special education, building operations and ESL/Bilingual, lease revenues, PLAN repayment and reimbursement information as well as the literacy coach and curriculum generalist formula distribution.

BUDGET PREPARATION - BUDGET REFERENCE
From FY11 Finance Staff Assignments to the State of Wisconsin Twenty Public School District Standards, this portlet contains  a number of documents schools may find helpful in understanding and/or creating school budgets.  The Portlet also contains a tool for Traditional and Instrumentality Charter school communities to use for budget modeling purposes as well as instructions for entering and editing school budgets on the district's on-line financial system (IFAS).
