Learning Targets

Learning Targets state clearly what your child will be learning in all subject areas including:

• Reading (Currently Under Review)
• Language Arts
• Mathematics
• Science
• Social Studies
• Music
• Physical Education
• Health
• Art
• School Counseling

Setting Learning Targets for each subject area and grade level:

• Ensures that all teachers focus on developing the same skills and concepts at a level appropriate for each child
• In setting these targets, we expect all children to enjoy high level learning experiences
• Learning Targets promote consistency in teaching and learning

Using Learning Targets:

• Teachers assess student performance throughout the year
• These frequent checks provide the teachers with information on skills and concepts that may have to be covered again as children mature
• The teacher is then able to help each child before he or she falls behind their grade level
