with the goal of promoting school readiness in young children.
■ Features:
The Head Start Program is beneficial to
all children and participating adults, including children with special
needs, bilingual children, homeless, and children in foster/kinship
care.
A goal of the Head Start Program is to ensure young children are
“school ready” and prepared to learn. Activities are directed toward
developing skills and knowledge in the eight domains of learning.
Head Start is a family and community focused program. The family and
community are directly involved in the operation, governance and
evaluation of the program.
Wellness is recognized as a significant contributor to each child’s
ability to thrive and develop. Accordingly, health screenings evaluate
the child’s overall health status. Regular health check-ups and good
practices in oral health, hygiene, personal care and safety are
incorporated in the program.

MPS State-Licensed Early Childhood Programs "Early Years are Learning Years” |
| Milwaukee Public Schools Department of Early Childhood Education has made school readiness a priority by offering state-licensed early childhood programs in a school environment two and three year old children. MPS offers a State-Licensed Early Care program for children 2 and 3 years old. |
The program provides a structured and balanced environment that prepares preschool children academically and socially for kindergarten. Investing in children early, during the preschool years, is crucial. Learning is cumulative, and children develop skills during their early years that facilitate learning. |
This is a fee-based program and W2 childcare reimbursement is accepted. |
